Where startup and early stage companies compete for recognition and substantial cash prizes. Companies must be no more than 5 years old with no more than 10 full-time employees. There will be a winner in each of the four categories.

Morning Session: Innovators Compete
Open to the public
Early stage and startup companies pitch competition. Judges will select 3 companies from each of the 4 categories below to give a 10-minute pitch in the morning session. There will be a winning company in each category and these companies will receive a cash award.
The audience will vote for Top Innovator by investing their “iHub Dollars.” The Top Innovator winner will be awarded a cash prize of several thousand dollars.

Keynote Speaker: Joshua Simmons
Open Source Initiative Program Manager, Google
Joshua R. Simmons is a lot of things, chief among them: infovore, community builder, web developer, and North Bay native. Over the first decade of Josh’s career he worked as a web developer and manager of web developers, in agencies, startups, and solo as a freelancer. Consequently, he has exposure to a wide range of industries, team configurations, and technology stacks.
Josh shifted gears making his life long passion for community building and the commons the centerpiece of his work in 2013. From 2013 to 2016 he served as Community Manager for O’Reilly Media covering all things web technology and open source; in 2016 he was installed as a Board Director for the Open Source Initiative (OSI) and began a new adventure as a Program Manager in Google’s Open Source Programs Office.
